Adult comedies in Hindi cinema have had a tricky journey. Some become guilty-pleasure entertainers, while others simply collapse under lazy writing. The Masti franchise has lived in both extremes. The first one was fresh. Grand Masti was wild but entertaining. Great Grand Masti suffered because of the pre-release leak. After nine long years, the franchise returns with Mastiii 4, now directed by Milap Milan Zaveri. The film tries to revive the chaotic madness of the earlier instalments, and there are moments where it succeeds. But it also stumbles because of outdated jokes, excessive slapstick, and a dragged second half.
Still, if you walk in expecting unapologetic adult humor, silly chaos, and a throwback to the 2000s style comedy, Mastiii 4 has its own brand of entertainment. Below is my detailed review of Mastiii 4 in the same tone you love.
Mastiii 4 Story
Mastiii 4 follows the familiar template of three friends who land themselves in trouble because of silly assumptions and even sillier decisions. Amar, Prem, and Meet live in the UK with their wives. Amar works in a zoo and calls himself a “master-mator” because he helps animals mate. Prem is a doctor. Meet works in the automobile sector. None of them are happy in their marriages.
They attend the tenth wedding anniversary of their friends Kamraj and Menaka. Kamraj is madly in love with his wife. The wives of the trio are jealous because their own husbands don’t show that kind of loyalty or affection. Soon, Amar, Prem, and Meet discover Kamraj having a wild time with ten women. They are shocked, but Menaka doesn’t even flinch. That’s when Kamraj reveals his secret. He has a “Love Visa” that allows him to have extra-marital fun for a week, after which he returns to his wife as a devoted husband.
This strange idea fascinates the three friends so much that they decide to ask their wives for the same. But things flip dramatically when the wives also get a “Love Visa” of their own. From here, chaos begins. Relationships get tangled. Egos get bruised. Everyone wants freedom, but can’t digest it when their partners want the same.
The rest of the film shows whether the trio can handle the consequences of their own demands and what this “Love Visa” madness leads to.
Mastiii 4 Movie Review
Mastiii 4 has been written by Farrukh Dhondy, Abhinav Vaidya, and Milap Zaveri. The first half moves fast. It has energy. The jokes land in a few places, and the nostalgia of seeing the original trio together again brings a smile. Zaveri’s treatment is loud, unapologetic, and deliberately exaggerated. He knows exactly what the franchise is known for, and he doesn’t try to tone it down.
But the second half loses steam. The film suddenly gets trapped in repetitive gags, toilet humor, and setups that feel stretched. Some jokes feel forced. Some feel outdated. There are at least fifteen to twenty minutes where the film completely loses grip and slips into unnecessary cringe.
The cameo characters appear at random points. Don Pablo (Tusshar Kapoor), a romantic cop played by Shaad Randhawa, and a six-pack hunk played by Nishant Malkani are introduced as comic props more than story elements. They add chaos but don’t add depth.
The music works better. Rasiya Baalama and Pakad Pakad bring a classic Bollywood flavor. The background score is intentionally loud, which suits the genre.
The humor in Mastiii 4 is not for everyone. But the franchise loyalists will find pockets of entertainment, especially because Milap Zaveri keeps things wild and over the top.
Mastiii 4 Performances
Riteish Deshmukh remains the backbone of the franchise. He is confident, expressive, and completely at ease in adult comedy. His body language, comic timing, and comfort with chaos make him the strongest performer among the lead trio. But even he is held back because the writing doesn’t give him clever punchlines.
Vivek Oberoi plays Meet with a controlled presence. He feels a little disconnected at times but manages to shine in emotional or intense moments. His reactions are subtle, and his mischief is toned down compared to earlier films.
Aftab Shivdasani is the most natural among the three. His innocence-driven comic style still works. His situational humor brings a few genuine laughs. He slips back into his character effortlessly and stays consistent throughout.
Among the women, Elnaaz Norouzi gets the most screen time. She is effective. Ruhi Singh and Shreya Sharma look confident but are given very limited scope. Their roles revolve around arguments, reactions, and dramatic sequences rather than actual humor.
Tusshar Kapoor steals the show in his cameo. His Don Pablo switch from serious to hilarious is one of the film’s most entertaining bits. Arshad Warsi, in typical Arshad style, adds charm. Nargis Fakhri looks stunning but has limited involvement.
Shaad Randhawa, Nishant Singh Malkani, and Natalia Janoszek contribute to the chaos. None of them has a fully fleshed-out role, but they add energy.
The chemistry between Riteish, Vivek, and Aftab still works. Their timing, their expressions, and their comfort with each other remain the biggest strength of Mastiii 4.
Final Verdict
Mastiii 4 is loud, silly, chaotic, and filled with exaggerated adult humor. But that is exactly what it promises. It entertains in parts. It falters in parts. The first half is more effective than the second. The jokes don’t always land. Yet, the nostalgia, the trio’s chemistry, and a few genuinely funny moments make it watchable.
It is not a smart comedy. It is not meant to be. It targets an audience that enjoys unapologetic adult humor and doesn’t care about logic. Expect fun in bits and pieces, not a solid comedy like the first Masti.
For fans of the franchise, Mastiii 4 is a passable, time-pass entertainer.
