Shubhangi Atre has officially wrapped up her decade-long journey as Angoori Bhabhi in Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai. Her exit marks the end of an era, as makers Binaiferr and Sanjay Kohli prepare to bring back the original Angoori, Shilpa Shinde, for the show’s next chapter.
For Shubhangi, this goodbye wasn’t just another wrap-up. It was emotional, overwhelming, and filled with gratitude for a character she nurtured for almost ten years. As she steps away, the actress reflects on her exit, her journey, and the unique bond she shared with the role.
“I See It As A Blessing In Disguise”
Shubhangi shot her final episode last week. Despite the noise around the replacement, she remains calm and dignified. She shared,
“I always promised Mrs Kohli that my journey in the show would start with aan, baan aur shaan, and that is exactly how it would end too. I could not have asked for a better exit. There is no point delving into the reasons for the replacement. I see it as a blessing in disguise because as an artist, I want to explore new characters.”
After a decade as Angoori, Shubhangi believes it’s time to reinvent herself.
“The idea is to step out of here and start looking for work again. After seeing so much in life, I am in fighter mode now and focused only on my daughter and my work.”
Shubhangi Atre, ‘It Felt Like Leaving Home’
Leaving a set you’ve lived on for a decade is never easy. And for Shubhangi, the final few days hit hard. She revealed,
“It definitely felt like leaving home. I became extremely emotional in the last few days of the shoot. The character had become a part of me. I feel immense gratitude because this show has given me everything.”
The walls of her makeup room, the shelf full of personal belongings, and the daily routine she followed for years — everything suddenly felt heavier. She recalled,
“On the last day, I asked my EP how long I would have to vacate because there was just so much to pack. They told me they would lock my room so I could take my time, which was very thoughtful. When I looked at the walls and my room, it hit me that ten years is a long time.”
‘I Am Grateful That Viewers Accepted Me,’ Shubhangi Atre
Shubhangi entered the show in 2016 after Shilpa Shinde’s exit. Replacing a popular character is always risky, but she made Angoori her own. She said,
“Replacing someone is never easy. When you create a character from scratch, you shape it through your own personality and experiences. But when you take on a role that already exists, you have to retain the nuances without making it seem like a copy and still build your own connection with the audience.”
And the audience did accept her — with warmth and affection.
“I am grateful that viewers accepted me with so much love. In the end, I am satisfied that I did my work with honesty and dedication. I am grateful to the channel, the producers, and the entire unit. I will miss the technicians a lot because of my bond with each one of them.”
“I’m Ending This Replacement Game Now”
In an interesting twist, this isn’t the first time Shubhangi has replaced Shilpa Shinde in a show. The same happened earlier in Chidiya Ghar. Shubhangi laughed as she said,
“I just want to say that I am ending this replacement game now. I told my mum that Shilpa left the show in nine to ten months, so it felt like she handed me a newborn baby. I raised that baby for ten years, and now I am returning it to her. I gave it values and sanskars, and I am passing it back with a full heart.”
And with genuine warmth, she added,
“I wish Shilpa all the very best and also the entire team for the 2.0 version of the show. She is a fantastic actor, and I am genuinely fond of her.”
A Decade Of Memories That Will Stay Forever
For Shubhangi, Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai wasn’t just a job. It became her second home, her comfort space, and a huge part of her identity. The emotional weight of walking away was immense, but so was her gratitude.
“You get so attached to a character that it becomes a part of you. I will miss the entire unit because the bond we shared was truly special.”
As she steps out of Angoori’s world, Shubhangi enters a new phase with renewed determination — ready to explore new roles, new stories, and new challenges.
Shubhangi Atre’s exit marks a big moment for fans of Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai. She carried forward one of television’s most iconic characters with grace, honesty, and unmatched dedication for ten long years.
Her journey as Angoori Bhabhi may have ended, but her impact will continue to live on in the hearts of viewers. And as she closes this chapter, she does it with dignity, gratitude, and a full heart — truly the sign of a graceful performer.
