Shraddha Kapoor and Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films have finally unveiled the trailer of their upcoming film in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, ‘Thamma.’ Bollywood is finally venturing into a territory that has remained largely untouched — the world of vampires. After redefining horror comedy with Stree, Bhediya, Munjya, and Stree 2, Maddock Films presents India’s first vampire love story, and the trailer justifies the hype. The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal, Faisal Malik, Geeta Agarwal, and Sathyaraj. It is directed by Munjya’s fame, Aditya Sarpodar.

Clocking at 2 minutes 54 seconds, the trailer blends fantasy, horror, romance, and comedy, all while staying rooted in folklore. The trailer promises an epic showdown between good and evil, but with a fresh twist — a love story at its heart. This one expands Maddock’s horror-comedy universe with even higher stakes.

The trailer begins with Rashmika Mandanna’s voiceover, advising Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s character, Yakshasn, that God made Betaal to protect humans. He denied and wants to make his own army and to create more betaal, who drink human blood. However, his lust for power and obsession with her character led to his imprisonment, and that opens the door to a chilling vampire world. Trapped in a cave for centuries, until one day Ayushmann Khurrana’s character, Alok, finds him.

Ayushmann slowly discovers he is no longer an ordinary man. His body begins to change. His eyes turn bloodshot. Sunlight burns his skin. His teeth sharpen into fangs. The chemistry between Rashmika and Ayushmann also takes center stage. She plays Tadaka, a mysterious woman caught between love and legend. While her motives are not fully revealed, her bond with Alok adds intrigue. Alok’s father, played by Paresh Rawal, gets to know about his son becoming a devil. He complains to the police. The police officer is played by our very own Prahlad Cha from Panchayat, Faisal Malik.

The transformation scenes pack a punch with sharp VFX and convincing detailing. The trailer also teases dance numbers featuring Rashmika Mandanna and Nora Fatehi, ensuring the film doesn’t lose its Bollywood charm. Adding to the surprise is Varun Dhawan’s cameo as Bhediya and Sathyaraj’s return as Elvis Karim Prabhakar, the eccentric exorcist from Munjya.

At its core, the trailer sets up an Indian vampire mythos — a concept rarely touched in Hindi cinema. For years, vampires have been a Western obsession, from Dracula to Twilight. With Thamma, Bollywood finally gets its own desi spin on the vampire lore.

The writing team of Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Falara seems to have struck a balance between folklore and modern storytelling. Unlike typical horror films, Thamma carries Maddock’s signature style — a mix of chills, humor, and social commentary.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Yakshasan looks promising. His menacing presence dominates the screen. His dialogues drip with power, and the way he declares his return is spine-chilling. Ayushmann, on the other hand, looks convincing as a man battling his own curse. His vulnerability and physical transformation give the trailer real weight. Rashmika Mandanna looked exceptional.

The production quality is top-notch. From Saurabh Goswami’s visuals to Sachin–Jigar’s energetic soundtrack, every frame feels designed to pull audiences into a vampire world that’s both terrifying and entertaining. Sachin-Jigar’s compositions will surely remind the fans of Stree 2’s ‘Aaj Ki Raat’ and ‘Aayi Nahi’ songs.

Thamma As Part Of The Horror-Comedy Universe

The film was previously titled ‘Vampires Of Vijaynagar’. Thamma is the fifth entry in Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe, following Stree, Bhediya, Munjya, and Stree 2. What sets this apart is the promise of an out-and-out love story layered into the horror-comedy genre.

Just like Stree addressed patriarchy and Bhediya highlighted environmental issues, Thamma is also expected to carry a social message beneath its fantasy. The trailer hints at themes of greed, power, and human weakness, which could be explored in depth.

The presence of crossover characters like Varun’s Bhediya and Sathyaraj’s exorcist further cements the idea of a connected horror universe. It’s exciting to see Bollywood finally embracing this style of storytelling, something Hollywood has done with its franchises for years.

This one looks like it will attract both horror buffs and fans of supernatural love stories.
