Mahesh Babu in a recent interaction with the media gave a controversial statement that the Hindi film industry cannot afford him. Many Bollywood actors have worked in many regional and south Indian film industries. Recently, Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon worked in the Sandalwood film industry. The duo worked in the all-time blockbuster KGF Chapter 2. Similarly, many actors came from Tollywood, and Kollywood film industries and gained success in Bollywood. Celebrities like Sridevi, Genelia D’Souza, Ileana D’Cruz, R. Madhavan, Asin Thottumkal, Kajal Aggarwal, and Tamannaah many more worked in South Indian film industry before making it big in Bollywood.

Recently, Tollywood actor Mahesh Babu in a media interaction at the trailer launch of Adivi Sesh’s Major was asked about working in Bollywood. The actor made a controversial statement and revealed that the Hindi film industry cannot afford him. Mahesh Babu said,

“I did get a lot of offers in Hindi, but I don’t think they can afford me. I don’t want to waste my time working in an industry which can’t afford me.”

Sarkaru Vaari Paata actor further added,

“The stardom and the respect I get here [in South] is huge, so I never really thought of leaving my industry and going to some other industry. I have always thought of doing films and becoming bigger. My dream is coming true now and I can’t be happier.”

 

Mahesh Babu Clarifies His Recent Comment

This comment did not go down well in a section of Bollywood followers. Many criticized Mahesh Babu and said that he belittled Bollywood. Following this, the actor has clarified that he loves cinema and respects all languages. Mahesh Babu’s team has issued a press note and gave clarification on his recent comment on Bollywood. The note reads that the actor’s comment was blown out of proportion. He never meant to belittle other languages. The press note reads,

“Mahesh has clarified that he loves cinema and respects all languages. He said he is comfortable doing the film where he has been working. Mahesh said he is happy to see his dream coming true as Telugu cinema is going places.”
