Ponniyin Selvan 2 by Mani Ratnam has had a terrific run in theatres since its release last week. During the week, the film’s box office took a significant hit. However, it continues to earn more than Rs 8 crore at the Indian box office, a respectable total for a film of this budget. According to trade reports, Ponniyin Selvan 2 is expected to enter the Rs 250 crore club globally by the end of this week.
Ponniyin Selvan 2 Is Still Minting Loads!
PS 2 hit theatres on April 28 amid high anticipation. The film was released in five Indian languages: Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
Ponniyin Selvan Part 2 has seen a decrease in sales during the last two days. Nonetheless, it has earned more than Rs 7 crore at the domestic box office. The film is projected to have made roughly Rs 8 crore (net) in India on its sixth day (May 3).
This brings the six-day total in India to Rs 122.25 crore. While the Tamil version of the film has received an overwhelming response around the world, the other versions have performed poorly.

Ponniyin Selvan is a historical play based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s famous literary work of the same name. The first part of the film grossed more than Rs 500 crore at the box office worldwide. The key actors in this film are Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha, and Jayam Ravi. The supporting cast includes Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Vikram Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, and Prabhu.
PS2 is also performing well in the United States. It has raised nearly $3.5 million (roughly Rs 28 crore) in five days. The official production house tweeted, “Over 3.5 million $ grossed in the first weekend! Thank you for the love! #PS2 makes its mark at number 8 at the US weekend box office!”
