War 2 Extended Week 1 Box Office Collection: Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR Starrer Crashes After A Promising Start

War 2 was expected to be the flag-bearer of the YRF Spy Universe after the historic success of Pathaan and Tiger 3. With a dream cast of Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, Kiara Advani, and Ashutosh Rana, the film had sky-high expectations. But reality at the box office turned out to be different – Week 1 collections are far from impressive and nowhere near the hype that surrounded the movie.

From Impressive Opening To Steep Decline

The film kicked off with a massive ₹52 crore opening, followed by an even bigger second day, thanks to the Independence Day holiday. But from Saturday onwards, the cracks began to show. The numbers dipped on Sunday and then collapsed heavily on Monday, with just ₹8.75 crore coming in. This was a drop of more than 70% from Day 2 collections, a clear signal that War 2 had failed to connect with the audience the way Pathaan or War (2019) did. Despite a star-studded cast and a gigantic budget, the film failed to sustain momentum through the week. Also Read War 2 Movie Review.

Audience Shift To Saiyaara And Mahavatar Narsimha

One of the biggest setbacks for War 2 came with shows being reduced after its first weekend. In contrast, both Saiyaara and Mahavatar Narsimha saw an increase in screen count due to strong word of mouth and rising audience demand. This shift further dented the film’s weekday performance.

Hindi Leads, Telugu Falters

While War 2 has managed to cross the ₹150 crore mark in Hindi, the Telugu version underperformed after a promising start. Day 1 saw a massive ₹22.75 crore from Telugu states, but collections dropped drastically as the week progressed. Tamil remained negligible throughout.

War 2 – Weakest Spy Universe Film Yet

via

By the end of its first extended week, it’s clear that War 2 has turned into the weakest film in the YRF Spy Universe, both in terms of box office numbers and audience reception. With a total of ₹204.25 crore nett, the film has managed to scrape past the ₹200 crore mark, but the collections are far below expectations.

Forget chasing Saiyaara’s ₹335 crore and growing – it will now be a challenge for War 2 to even touch ₹200 crore in Hindi alone. The once-glorious Spy Universe finds itself in jeopardy, with War 2 joining the list of YRF’s major disappointments alongside Thugs of Hindostan.

Final Verdict

What was meant to be a game-changer for the Spy Universe has turned into a missed opportunity. War 2 had all the ingredients – action, scale, stars – but it couldn’t deliver the emotional connect or repeat value. The extended Week 1 collections prove that the audience has given its verdict loud and clear.
