Nineteen years after Dhamaal became one of Bollywood’s most loved comedy franchises, director Indra Kumar returns with Dhamaal 4. While the original remains unmatched, the latest installment doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel. Instead, it sticks to what audiences have always loved about the franchise: chaos, misunderstandings, slapstick comedy, and a crazy treasure hunt that throws multiple eccentric characters into one hilarious adventure. After Welcome To The Jungle, the audience are in for another entertaining ride.
Led by Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Jaaved Jaaferi, Sanjay Mishra, and Ravi Kishan, Dhamaal 4 embraces complete absurdity from the very beginning. Logic takes a backseat, and entertainment becomes the only priority. The film doesn’t always hit the bullseye, especially in the second half, but when its comedy lands, it delivers genuine laughs. It may never reach the heights of the 2007 classic, yet it successfully keeps the franchise’s madness alive.
Dhamaal 4 Story

The story revolves around an ancient treasure hidden on a mysterious island. Guddu (Ajay Devgn) and his close companion Johnny (Sanjay Mishra) are searching for the fortune, while Prithvi (Upendra Limaye) possesses the secret leading to its location. During his final moments, Prithvi reveals crucial information about the treasure. Unfortunately for Guddu, he isn’t the only one listening.
Soon, Adi (Arshad Warsi), Manav (Jaaved Jaaferi), Lallan (Riteish Deshmukh), two children, two women, and pirate leader Adhoora (Ravi Kishan) all join the race to find the hidden wealth.
Guddu is also trying to win over the children of a married woman he hopes to marry, while Lallan accidentally lands himself in an unexpected marriage before joining the treasure hunt. Meanwhile, Adi and Manav continue creating chaos wherever they go.
With everyone desperately trying to reach the mysterious island and locate the iconic M-shaped mountains before anyone else, the treasure hunt transforms into a rollercoaster of confusion, comedy, and endless madness.
Dhamaal 4 Movie Review

The biggest strength of Dhamaal 4 is that it knows exactly what kind of film it wants to be. It never pretends to offer intelligent storytelling or emotional complexity. From the very first scene, the film asks viewers to leave logic outside the theatre and simply enjoy the ride. Director Indra Kumar understands the franchise better than anyone.
Rather than attempting drastic changes, he carefully preserves the DNA of Dhamaal. The familiar characters, their quirky personalities, and the treasure hunt formula instantly create a sense of nostalgia for longtime fans.
The first half is where the film works best. The comedy arrives one after another, misunderstandings keep escalating, and the fast-paced screenplay rarely gives audiences time to relax. Several situational gags genuinely work, creating the kind of laughter that reminds you why the franchise became so popular in the first place. The nostalgic references to earlier Dhamaal films are another welcome addition. Fans who have followed the franchise since 2007 will enjoy these callbacks without feeling that they’re being overused.
However, the second half loses some momentum. The treasure hunt gradually becomes repetitive, and several adventure sequences stretch longer than necessary. The pacing slows considerably after the interval, making portions of the film feel slightly overlong.
Another noticeable weakness is the dialogue writing. The original Dhamaal became iconic largely because of its unforgettable one-liners and hilarious punchlines. This time, the humour depends more on slapstick situations than memorable dialogues. While the situational comedy works, the verbal humour doesn’t leave the same lasting impact.
The screenplay also leans heavily towards family audiences and children during the latter half. Some exaggerated situations will undoubtedly entertain younger viewers, but adults may find themselves waiting for the next genuinely funny sequence.
Having said that, the emotional message towards the climax comes as a pleasant surprise. Indra Kumar once again manages to conclude the madness on a heartfelt note. The final twenty minutes bring warmth to the narrative and ensure audiences leave the theatre with a smile.
Music And Technical Aspects

Technically, Dhamaal 4 offers a mixed experience. The cinematography is impressive, particularly during the island portions. Beautiful locations, vibrant colours, and wide scenic shots enhance the adventurous atmosphere. The production scale is noticeably bigger than previous installments. The film looks grand throughout and effectively creates the feeling of a large-scale family entertainer.
However, the visual effects remain disappointing. Several CGI-heavy sequences fail to blend naturally with the live-action footage. Thankfully, because the film never takes itself seriously, the weak VFX become easier to overlook whenever the comedy starts working.
The editing is reasonably crisp during the first half but could have been tighter after the interval. Trimming some of the prolonged chase sequences would have improved the overall pacing.
The music serves its purpose without becoming memorable. While the songs, none of them stay with you after the film ends. The background score complements the comic situations effectively.
Dhamaal 4 Performances

Ajay Devgn brings effortless charm to Guddu. His comic timing has improved significantly over the years, and he handles the humour with complete confidence. His chemistry with Sanjay Mishra generates several entertaining moments, while his interactions with the children add emotional warmth to the story.
Riteish Deshmukh delivers an entertaining performance as Lallan. His rustic accent, comic timings, and misunderstandings, and unusual marriage track create several enjoyable moments throughout the film.
Jaaved Jaaferi once again proves why Manav remains one of Bollywood’s most iconic comedy characters. His impeccable expressions, physical comedy, and natural timing make him one of the film’s biggest highlights. Even after nearly two decades, he continues to bring the same innocence and madness to the character.
Arshad Warsi remains consistently dependable. His chemistry with Jaaved Jaaferi continues to be the heart and soul of the franchise. Their scenes together once again produce some of the loudest laughs in the film.
Sanjay Mishra is simply outstanding. His effortless comic timing elevates almost every scene he appears in. In several moments, he even overshadows the leading cast with his impeccable expressions and dialogue delivery.
Ravi Kishan fully embraces the exaggerated nature of pirate leader Adhoora. He understands the film’s tone perfectly and adds another layer of madness to the treasure hunt.
Among the supporting cast, Anjali Anand leaves a pleasant impression, while Sanjeeda Shaikh fits comfortably into the narrative. Upendra Limaye has a limited screen time, and Esha Gupta makes a decent special appearance. Overall, the ensemble cast works remarkably well together, ensuring that no character feels completely wasted despite the large lineup.
Final Verdict

Dhamaal 4 doesn’t try to compete with sophisticated comedies or intelligent satires. Its sole objective is to make audiences laugh, and for the most part, it succeeds. Yes, the weak VFX, stretched second half, and lack of memorable dialogues prevent it from matching the magic of the original Dhamaal. But the film never loses sight of its primary purpose: delivering wholesome family entertainment.
Powered by a lovable ensemble cast, entertaining situational comedy, adventurous treasure hunt, and plenty of nostalgic moments, Dhamaal 4 offers an enjoyable theatrical experience for families looking to switch off their brains and simply have fun.
The original Dhamaal still remains the gold standard of the franchise, but this latest installment does enough to keep its legacy alive.
