The trailer for Akshay Kumar starrer film, Gold has been out and it left us excited for the movie. The historical sports drama film is directed by Reema Kagti and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the Excel Entertainment banner. As the tagline reads, “one dream that united our nation”, it can be concluded that it encompasses the theme of patriotism.

 

The Plot Of Gold

The plot of the movie revolves around Tapan Das (Akshay Kumar) who is a young assistant manager in 1936. He manages the national hockey team and the team secured the gold in 1936 Olympics. However, India was under the British colonization at that time and Tapan dreams of playing for the independent nation. His dreams seem to come true when India got freedom in 1947. So, Tapan forms the team of the old players and lead the nation to secure the goal. In the trailer, there is drama and emotional content when Tapan (Akshay) channels patriotism among the players.

 

Cast Of The Film

Besides Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Kumar Singh, Amit Sadh, Sunny Kaushal are playing the key roles in the film. The Arjuna Award winner and former Indian national hockey team captain, Sandeep Singh, was signed to train the actors to improve their hockey skills.

The Director Reema Kagti said, “It’s a fictional take on what happened. Also, it is not just the golden victory in 1948 we will be looking at, but it will encompass 12 crucial years in India’s history.”
