Batla House Review

The movie is based on a real-life incident. On September 13, 2008, there were serial bomb blasts in Karol Bagh, Connaught Place, India Gate and Greater Kailash of New Delhi. 26 people have died and more than 130 were injured. A week later, on September 19, 2008, Delhi Police gets a lead that there are few terrorists of Indian Mujahideen hiding at Batla House, a place in Jamia Nagar, New Delhi. There was gunfire exchange between the Delhi Police Special Cell and the accused terrorists. This incident has given the name Batla House Encounter Case. Though the movie is based on this incident, still the director Nikhil Advani has mentioned it as a fictionalized account of an operation.

John Abraham has done this kind of role before. But still, he has put lots of hard work for Batla House and that can be seen with his performance. Mrunal Thakur has not much presence in the movie, but she looked elegant in the screen. Both Ravi Kishan and Rajesh Sharma has done justice with the roles. The song O Saki Saki has been recreated from its old version of 2004’s Musafir. Noora Fatehi dance has been applauded by the audiences. The songs of the movie are good.

The background score complements well with the scenes of the movie. The action sequence and screenplay are crisp and gripping. Director Nikhil Advani has showcased this India’s most controversial encounter with ease. The movie tried to be neutral. But in the climax, there was a disclaimer mentioning that the movie does not support any party related to this case. The first half of the movie is slow, but it paces up in the second half and keeps audiences to the edge of their seat.
