Director Karan Sharma debuts with Bhool Chuk Maaf. He crafted the film with sincerity, but the repetitive sequences and execution spoil the fun. The film kicks off with a promise. The concept of a time loop is refreshing for a Hindi comedy-drama. However, the film fumbles with the first half being predictable. The second half, despite stepping into more unexpected territory, feels stretched at times. Some scenes are repetitive, like you are watching them in a loop, and that tests your patience. Also, the music, barring one or two tracks, is forgettable.

Rajkummar Rao is undoubtedly the heart of this film. He effortlessly balances comedy with vulnerability and keeps you hooked even when the script lets him down. But, we have seen Rajkummar Rao playing similar comic roles in Stree, Stree 2, and Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video.

Wamiqa Gabbi Bhool Chuk Maaf

Wamiqa Gabbi is bold, expressive, and refreshing. Though in some scenes, she looked over the top, but manages to catch her rhythm. The veteran actor Sanjay Mishra, though in a small role, leaves a lasting impact as always. Ishtiyak Khan and Dheerendra Gautam bring comic relief. While Seema Pahwa and Raghubir Yadav played their part well. Dhanashree Verma’s item number adds glamor.

Final Verdict

Bhool Chuk Maaf is quirky, different, and led by a brilliant Rajkummar Rao. But it stumbles in execution with a dragged second half and underwhelming music. It’s the kind of film that could’ve been a standout if the writing had stayed as sharp as its concept. Still, if you’re in the mood for something light with a desi twist, this one could be a decent weekend watch. Or else, you can wait for two weeks, when the film arrives on the OTT platform.
