The popular serial introduces us to Ross, spoiled Rachel, quirky Chandler, witty Joey, free-spirited Phoebe, and Monica. It is still one of the most-streamed shows in Netflix’s library. 1. Friends Was Originally Called Insomnia Café

Friends creators first named it ‘Insomnia Café.’ The plot was also different from what we are watching in the show Friends. For example, Ross and Rachel were not in a relationship. Joey and Monika were supposed to be love interests. Another title is suggested, which is ‘Across the Hall.’ Once again, the title is shifted again named ‘ Six of One. Finally, when the show premiered, it landed simply with the title ‘Friends.

 

2. The Show Was Not Completely Shot In New York

Don’t let the beautiful scenes and the iconic fountain from the opening scenes fool you. The fountain looks like Central Park’s Pulitzer Fountain, but it was actually shot on a Warner Bros.

 

3. Friends Was Filmed In Front Of A Live Audience, Except For Cliffhangers

Shooting for Friends is a lengthy process. It takes around 5 hours of shooting, with 20 minutes between scenes and multiple retakes. Still, the show was filmed—front of a live audience. Perry agreed on this, ‘our energy elevated every time there’s an audience.’ Ross’s wedding is not filmed in front of the audience. The audience is always removed for the cliffhanger shoot.

 

4. Ross Is 29 For Three Years

For the three consecutive seasons (3,4,5), Ross mentioned that he is 29. In season 5, he actually says he is getting divorced twice before he’s 30. Ross also had two birthdays on Friends, Oct 18.
