The wait is finally over. Sun Pictures has released the trailer of Jailer 2, giving us the first detailed look at Rajinikanth’s return as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The 2-minute-25-second trailer picks up the story after the events of the 2023 blockbuster and promises a much bigger battle for the retired jailer.
Rajinikanth returns as Tiger, but this time he is not simply dealing with one major enemy. The trailer introduces several new faces, new threats and a criminal network that appears determined to settle scores with him. Nelson Dilipkumar is back in the director’s chair, while the cast includes SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan, Jackie Shroff, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Mithun Chakraborty, Yogi Babu and Suraj Venjaramoodu.
Jailer 2 Trailer

The trailer begins with Tiger Muthuvel Pandian living away from his old life. He is seen working as a driver in a remote village. But his peaceful existence does not last for long. The criminal network he had dismantled earlier has now turned against him.
The trailer suggests that Tiger’s enemies are tracking him down. Unlike the first film, where the central conflict revolved around Vinayakan’s character and the idol smuggling network, the sequel appears to bring several antagonists into the same conflict.

SJ Suryah plays Badhou Kapak, one of the major challenges for Tiger. His character’s motives remain largely hidden in the trailer. Suraj Venjaramoodu is also introduced as Dileep, another character who appears to be a serious threat.
Vidya Balan makes her Tamil cinema debut as Kaantha. The trailer gives us glimpses of her character and a conversation between her and Rajinikanth. However, her connection to Tiger and the larger conflict is kept under wraps.

The trailer also brings back the much talked about cameos from Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar. Jackie Shroff is seen in another intriguing appearance, while Mithun Chakraborty appears in a wheelchair in one scene. Vijay Sethupathi, who is confirmed to be part of the film, does not appear in the trailer.
The action is clearly bigger this time. We get glimpses of large scale confrontations and violence, while the comedy between Rajinikanth and Yogi Babu keeps the lighter side of the franchise alive.
Towards the end, Tiger talks about bringing all his enemies under one roof and bombing the building. That line hints at a possible showdown involving several major characters.
Jailer 2 Trailer Review

The biggest advantage of the Jailer 2 trailer is its scale. The first film became a major commercial success by combining Rajinikanth’s star power with Nelson’s dark humour, action and eccentric characters. The sequel appears to be taking that formula and making it considerably bigger.
What makes the trailer exciting is the number of characters packed into it. SJ Suryah gets a prominent presence, while Vidya Balan’s Kaantha immediately creates curiosity. The trailer does not explain her character, which is a smart choice. Her conversation with Rajinikanth is one of the moments that stands out without giving away why she matters to the story.
The action also looks larger than what we saw in the first film. But the trailer does not forget what made Jailer so entertaining. The humour is still present, particularly in the Rajinikanth and Yogi Babu portions. That balance is important because the franchise has always worked because of its combination of mass moments and irreverent comedy.

SJ Suryah’s Badhou Kapak appears to be one of the biggest reasons to be curious. The trailer gives us enough of him to establish the threat but does not reveal everything about his character. That restraint works.
Anirudh Ravichander’s music also retains the energy associated with the first film. The trailer uses the sound and background score to amplify the mass moments without losing the essence of the franchise.
Most importantly, the trailer does what a sequel trailer should. It gives fans several reasons to be excited without revealing the entire story. We get new characters, returning faces, bigger action and plenty of Rajinikanth moments, but the actual nature of the larger conflict remains somewhat protected.
Jailer 2 Trailer Verdict

Jailer 2 looks bigger, louder and more packed than its predecessor. The combination of Rajinikanth, SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and the rest of the cast gives the trailer plenty of curiosity, while Nelson’s mix of action and humour keeps the franchise identity intact.
Jailer 2 releases worldwide on October 15, 2026. If the trailer is any indication, Tiger Muthuvel Pandian is returning with an even bigger mess to clean up.
