The excitement around Ramayana is building as the makers prepare to bring the Indian mythological epic to audiences worldwide. Starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Yash as Ravana, the film is gearing up for a massive theatrical release. In a major move to expand its international reach, the film has reportedly been dubbed in nearly 40 languages, making it accessible to audiences across different countries.
With producer Namit Malhotra aiming for an unprecedented global release, the team is working to take the story of Lord Rama beyond Indian audiences. The makers have already announced the worldwide release date and advance booking plans. Now, the film’s multilingual strategy has emerged as another significant step towards its international ambitions.
Ramayana To Be Dubbed In Nearly 40 Languages Worldwide
According to a trade source, the makers want Ramayana to achieve the biggest international release ever for an Indian film. The source told Bollywood Hungama that Namit Malhotra and the core team have been working towards this goal for a long time. The source said,
“Producer Namit Malhotra and the core team of Ramayana are determined to make it the biggest release ever for an Indian film. They have been working towards this goal for a long time. The film’s promotion at CinemaCon 2026 and San Diego Comic-Con was a step in that direction. Getting Sony Pictures on board for international distribution was also a huge shot in the arm.”
One of the biggest steps in this direction is the decision to dub the film in nearly 40 languages. The idea is to allow audiences across the world to experience the epic in languages they understand, rather than depending entirely on subtitles. The source added,
“To make the film accessible and appealing to audiences across the globe, Ramayana has been dubbed in nearly 40 languages. As a result, viewers across the world will be able to experience the film in all its glory in a language they understand, without having to rely on subtitles. This is the first time an Indian film has been dubbed on such a massive scale. The complete list of languages in which the film has been dubbed will be unveiled in a week or two.”
The complete list of languages is expected to be announced in the coming weeks. It remains to be seen which international markets will receive the widest range of dubbed versions.
Sony Pictures’ Involvement Strengthens Ramayana’s Global Ambitions
The film’s international distribution strategy is another important part of its worldwide plans. The reported involvement of Sony Pictures is expected to help the makers expand the film’s reach in overseas markets.
Promoting the project at CinemaCon 2026 and San Diego Comic-Con has also helped introduce Ramayana
to international audiences. These efforts reflect the scale of the film’s ambitions as the team prepares for its theatrical launch.Rather than relying only on Indian audiences living overseas, the multilingual release could help the film reach viewers who may be unfamiliar with Hindi cinema but recognise the story of Lord Rama. However, the film’s eventual international performance will depend on audience response, distribution and its reception across different markets.
Ranbir Kapoor, Yash And Sai Pallavi Lead The Mythological Epic
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, best known for Dangal (2016), Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
The film is produced by Namit Malhotra and features music composed by A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer. Its scale, ensemble cast and international release plans have made it one of the most anticipated Indian films.
Ramayana is planned as a two-part saga. The first instalment will arrive in cinemas worldwide on November 5, 2026, during Diwali week, while the second part is scheduled for Diwali 2027. The makers have also announced that advance bookings for the first instalment will begin on October 20, 2026, coinciding with Dussehra.
