Salim Zaidi started his career from a role of Jahangir in a theatre. He told

The appreciation I got after playing that character made me think that I have an actor inside me.

While doing theatre, I didn’t have to wait long for a big break. I got Bhaag Milkha Bhaag while doing theatre only. After Bhaag Milkha Bhaag I have decided to relocate to Mumbai. Yes, there was an initial struggle at Mumbai. Then, I have got an ad of Kaun Banega Crorepati with Amitabh Bachchan which was directed by Nitesh Tiwari. After that, I got many ad commercials.

How Salim Zaidi Become Tillu

I have got a break on a serial Jeanie aur Juju directed by Rajan Waghdhare. Then he recommended me for the character Tillu for Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain. In the initial episodes, I was having a different voice for this character. But then director Shashank Bali told to do something different and I came with this different accent. This also gave me the award for Magnetic Voice.

I again worked hard for an entire year and then again when selectors came, I got out on Zero. Then someone wrote about me, Zero made me Hero.

If I was not, got out on Zero, I would have not made it to theatres and also would not made it to Bhabiji.
