The Bhootnii is a horror comedy film released in cinemas. The film stars Sanjay Dutt, Mouni Roy, Sunny Singh, Palak Tiwari, Nickunj Sharma, and Aasif Khan. It is directed by Sidhaant Sachdev and is produced by Soham Rockstar Entertainment and Three Dimension Motion Pictures.
The Bhootnii Story

Set in the quirky yet eerie campus of St. Vincent’s College in Delhi, The Bhootnii revolves around a spooky local legend—the “Virgin Tree”—haunted by the spirit of Mohabbat (Mouni Roy). Every Valentine’s Day, she awakens in search of true love, but here’s the twist—she claims a soul on Holika Dahan. Brutal, right?
Enter Shantanu (Sunny Singh), a college boy nursing a heartbreak and hoping for “sacchi mohabbat.” Alongside his goofy roommates, Sahil (Beyounick) and Nasir (Aasif Khan), he stumbles into the supernatural when he unknowingly charms the ghost herself. Mohabbat falls for him, but things spiral when a living girl, Ananya (Palak Tiwari), starts liking him too. And let’s just say, Mohabbat doesn’t take rejection well.
To contain the chaos, the college brings in an eccentric ghostbuster, Baba (Sanjay Dutt), an alumnus of the college with a gadget-laden swagger and his mysterious past with the ghost. What follows is a mishmash of horror, comedy, emotional backstories, and twists.
The Bhootnii Review

Maddock Films Horror Universe has shown that the horror comedy genre has loads of potential. Other filmmakers are also making films in this genre. Director Sidhaant Sachdev came up with The Bhootnii. He brings the horror comedy with a predictable script. Yes, some scenes set the tone with exceptional cinematography by Santhosh Thundiyil. The Bhootnii tries to juggle spooky vibes and campus comedy, but ends up leaning more on genre than freshness. The script looked uncooked. The VFX seems rushed.
The Bhootnii Performances

Sanjay Dutt owns the screen in every frame. He brings the balance between humor and intensity. He played his Ghostbuster character perfectly. Mouni Roy is superb as Mohabbat. She brings the intensity to the character. Yes, we have seen her in a somewhat similar kind of role in Naagin. She strikes the right chords with the audience. Her characterization is held back by weak writing and gimmicky effects.

Sunny Singh plays the confused lover boy with warmth. Though his comic timing works in parts, mainly because of the writing. Palak Tiwari has limited screen time, but overacts in some scenes. She still needs to grow as an actor. Nickunj Sharma (Beyounick) and Aasif Khan bring the comic relief.
Final Verdict

The Bhootnii had the potential to be a spooky laugh riot, but ends up being in between. The plot is predictable that works in parts; however, its emotional angle stays with you. If you like light horror comedy, this one is a decent watch.
