In an industry where time is money and schedules can make or break a film, dedication often becomes the defining factor for success. And when it comes to commitment, Genelia Deshmukh seems to have set a benchmark that is hard to match. The actor, who is currently enjoying a strong phase in her career, has once again won hearts — this time not just on screen, but behind the scenes as well.
While working on Gunmaaster G9, director Aditya Datt shared an incident that perfectly captures Genelia’s work ethic. His words were simple yet powerful — “She’s a dream to work with.” But what followed was a story that truly explains why.
Aditya Datt Praises Genelia’s Professionalism
Speaking about his experience, Aditya Datt didn’t hold back in praising Genelia Deshmukh. He highlighted not just her talent but also her understanding of filmmaking as a process. He said,
“She’s a dream to work with. I guess since she’s also a producer, she understands the practicality of making a film with all the pressures, budgetary challenges, etc. put together. It, of course, goes without saying that she’s highly talented, as evident by the amount of work she’s done. However, the support system she provides on the sets is beautiful. Her commitment is on another level.”
This statement reflects a rare combination — talent, professionalism, and empathy towards the entire team.
The 24-Hour Hustle That Left Everyone Surprised
What truly stands out is the incident that Aditya Datt recalled from the shoot of Gunmaaster G9. It wasn’t just about acting. It was about going above and beyond. He shared,
“I’ll tell you this one incident. I was shooting the climax and it involved a major action piece with fighters, et al. There was one date that was not officially given to us by Genelia. She had told us in advance that she had a family commitment that day. But you know how things go in shoots. I had to tell her, ‘I need that particular date’.”
What happened next is what makes this story special. He continued,
“The way she balanced work and her personal life was commendable. It was a commitment for her son’s very big soccer match in Delhi. You won’t believe this – she shot with me from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am the next day. She then straight away went to the airport, took a flight, reached Delhi by 9:30 or 10:00 am and attended her son’s match. She got free by 1:00 pm, after which she proceeded to the Delhi airport. She took the flight and landed in Mumbai by 5:30-6:00 pm. At 8:00 pm, she reported back on my set! Then, she shot until 5:00 am the next day.”
That’s not just dedication. That’s next-level commitment.
Balancing Family And Film Without Compromise
In today’s fast-paced industry, balancing personal and professional life is one of the biggest challenges. But Genelia Deshmukh managed to do both — without compromising on either.
Her decision to honour both commitments speaks volumes about her priorities. She didn’t choose between work and family. She made space for both.
Aditya Datt further explained the thought behind her decision. He said, “She understood that since there was so much money riding of the producer, she didn’t want to cancel the shoot that day. Gunmaaster G9 is made in a certain budget and she’s too sensitive about money being wasted. Hence, she decided to return to the sets.”
This is where her experience as a producer comes into play. She understands the value of time, resources, and teamwork.
A Gesture That Earned Respect
What impressed Aditya Datt the most was not just her effort, but the intent behind it. He added,
“I wrapped her scenes as quickly as possible as I was feeling so guilty. Once she was done, I told her, ‘Please go and sleep’. I have to give it to her. It’s a gesture I have not seen in a while. This is why I have a major respect and a close bond with her.”
That statement reflects genuine admiration.
In an industry where schedules are often rigid and demanding, such gestures stand out. They create not just professional respect but also personal bonds.
Gunmaaster G9: A Reunion After 20 Years
Gunmaaster G9 itself carries a strong sense of nostalgia. The film brings back Emraan Hashmi and Aditya Datt together after nearly two decades. Adding to the excitement is Himesh Reshammiya, reuniting the trio that delivered the iconic Aashiq Banaya Aapne in 2005.
With such a successful collaboration in the past, expectations from this film are naturally high.
And with Genelia Deshmukh as the female lead, the film gains an added layer of strength.
Genelia Deshmukh’s Recent Work In Raja Shivaji
Apart from Gunmaaster G9, Genelia Deshmukh was recently seen in Raja Shivaji, a historical action film based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
The film features Riteish Deshmukh in the lead role as Shivaji Maharaj, and he also co-wrote and directed the project. Genelia played Sai Bai, the first wife of Shivaji Maharaj, and also co-produced the film.
The ensemble cast includes Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Amole Gupte, Fardeen Khan, Sachin Khedekar, Mahesh Manjrekar, and Salman Khan in key roles. Her performance and contribution as a producer once again highlighted her versatility.
Conclusion
The story shared by Aditya Datt is more than just an anecdote. It is a reflection of what true professionalism looks like.
Genelia Deshmukh didn’t just complete her job. She went beyond expectations. She balanced her responsibilities. She respected the team. And she ensured that work didn’t suffer.
In an industry driven by deadlines and pressure, such dedication stands out. Because at the end of the day, talent may bring you success. But commitment is what earns you respect. And Genelia Deshmukh clearly has both.
