Ekta Kapoor has been a gem in the industry since her arrival. While bashing hit TV serials like Kyuki… Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasauti Zindagi Kay, Hum Paanch, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kahin… To Hoga, etc. All together the hitmaker has given 39 films, 45 web series, and 135 daily soaps to the industry to date. Well, her arrival into the main frame wasn’t as easy even though her dad was a superstar himself. It was so because Ekta denied using his star power and worked through all of it to get where she is today. Ekta was born on 7 June 1975 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Her father is a star actor Jeetendra and her mother Shobha Kapoor is a film producer. This upbringing gave Ekta much-needed exposure to the film industry. But sadly she was denied from the movie sets where her dad worked the reason being that if Ekta ever saw her dad in a romantic scene she was said to confront the actress involved!

Jeetendra’s scolding helped Ekta see her dream pretty much clear. She started attending an internship with a film producer named Kailash Surendranath. Looking at her passion for her work, her dad gave her the financial help needed to produce independently and the started working at Balaji Telefilms.

Ekta made a few shows for the National television and presented them to some TV channels but was denied by everybody incurring her a loss of ₹50 lakh. In 1995, a famous TV channel named Zee TV accepted her show Maano ya Na Maano. At the same moment, her other musical show named Dhun Dhamaka was booked by the channel Doordarshan. It was the same year when she produced her first hit TV serial Hum Paanch.

Ekta’s immense belief in astrology made her name all her serials with the initial ‘K’ and surprisingly it worked wonders. This started in 1999 when Ekta released the serial Kanyadaan. It was followed by all her popular shows with the initial K namely Kyuki… Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahani Ghar Ghar ki, Kasauti Zindagi Ki, Kahin… Kisi Roz, Kutumbb, Kusum, Koi Apna Sa, Kahin… To Hoga, Kasturi, Kalash, etc.

Ekta stepped into Bollywood with a strong blow as in 1999 her production house released a movie named Kyoki… Mai Jhooth Nahi Bolta starring the legendary Govinda with the gorgeous Sushmita Sen. It was followed by a wave of numerous hit movies namely Krishna Cottage, Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, The Dirty Picture, Ek Villain, Half Girlfriend, Dream Girl, etc.

As per recent valuations, Ekta’s production house namely Balaji Productions has been valued at over INR 400 crores. Meanwhile, Ekta Kapoor’s net worth was valued at over INR 95 crores and she owns a house in Mumbai worth INR 7 crore that she bought in 2012. Apart from this, she has poured a lot of cash into real estate and even established an institute under her production house. Recently, in 2017 she launched an OTT platform ALT Balaji that helps viewers stream TV serials online and other web series.

Ekta was very passionate about her marriage from a young age. But since her arrival in the industry, her trust in love and marriage just burnt off. Ekta instead froze her eggs at the age of 36. After 8 years she gave birth to a baby boy via surrogacy. The little prince was later named Ravie Kapoor.
