Saand Ki Aankh starts in 1999 in a Johri village, where we see two old women Chandro Tomar played by Bhumi Pednekar and Prakashi Tomar played by Taapsee Pannu plotting to get outside the home without their husbands. The house is headed by the eldest brother Prakash Jha. He is also the sarpanch of the village. The men in the house laugh at Dadis when they pick up the gun. We have taken into the past to show how they become Shooter Dadi’s. The story shows that in Johri village women do not have the rights to even dream and put their opinion. Shooter Dadis do not want the same thing for their granddaughters Seema and Shefali. They got to know about Yashpal played by Viineet Kumar who is a doctor-turned-shooting instructor sets up a shooting range in the village. Chandro Tomar and Prakashi Tomar got to know their hidden talent of shooting. The story is all about how shooter dadis inspire their granddaughters to follow their dream and how they fight with the orthodox mentality of men from their own house.

Saand Ki Aankh Review

The true story of Chandro Tomar and Prakashi Tomar is no doubt an inspirational one. The script of the movie looks somewhat fictional from real life. The screenplay is too stretched. Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar gave the bull’s eye performances. But the prosthetic and latex make up is very poor. The narrative becomes repetitive when the hide and seek between the shooter dadis and their family starts. Prakash Jha did a good job as an antagonist. The direction of Tushar Hiranandani has nothing new to offer. There are a total of five songs in the movie but apart from Udta Teetar, no other song will be remembered. Overall the movie is about women empowerment and it is an inspirational one. We give Saand Ki Aankh 3 stars out of 5.
