Ayan Mukerji’s War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, hit cinemas on August 14. The film left fans buzzing with adrenaline-pumping action and plenty of unanswered questions. At the heart of the story is Kabir (Hrithik Roshan), the ex-RAW agent turned mercenary. Known as “the man who doesn’t miss,” Kabir appears to have switched sides, working for the global terror outfit, Kali. But the truth is far more layered — Kabir is on a covert mission to infiltrate Kali and destroy it from within.
War 2 Ending Explained

The emotional beats arrive early when Wing Commander Kavya Luthra (Kiara Advani) is felicitated for her bravery, only for tragedy to strike. Her father, Colonel Karan Luthra (Ashutosh Rana), is killed in an operation gone wrong, with Kabir himself ordered to pull the trigger by Kali. This shocking sequence creates mistrust, even as RAW brings in Vikram (Jr NTR), a fearless and unpredictable officer, to hunt down Kali.
Meanwhile, Kabir hides his daughter Ruhi in Manali with Tiger Shroff’s mother (played by Soni Razdan) from the first War. The circle of trust is shrinking, and Kabir’s double life is pushing him deeper into chaos.

When Kabir and Vikram finally cross paths, it feels like destiny. Kabir opens up about his mission, and Vikram even calls him “partner.” Together, they plan to crush Kali’s next strike. But just as the brotherhood begins, the betrayal hits hard.
Vikram carries out a chilling massacre, and Kabir realises the man he trusted has been leaking RAW intel to Kali. In one of the film’s most jaw-dropping scenes, Vikram pushes Kabir out of a plane — but not before giving him a secret sign. It’s then that Kabir recognises the truth: Vikram is actually Raghu, his childhood best friend.
Who Is The Real Villain In War 2?

The flashback packs a heavy punch. Kabir (then Kabbu) and Raghu grew up like brothers, only for fate to tear them apart. A theft case landed both in prison, where Colonel Karan Luthra spotted Kabir’s potential and handpicked him for soldier training. Raghu was left behind.

Kabir was ordered to shed his “Raghu First” loyalty and embrace an “India First” mindset. While Kabir thrived under RAW’s mentorship, Raghu was consumed by bitterness. Over time, Kabir even broke Kavya’s heart, rejecting her proposal to focus on duty. The cracks widened, leading Kabir and Raghu to opposite ends of a battlefield.
The Explosive Climax Of War 2

As the climax unfolds, Kabir reveals Raghu’s true identity to Kavya, and she finally believes him. Together, they discover that Minister Sarang is working with Kali to become the next Prime Minister. This sets up a double showdown — Kabir vs Raghu in brutal hand-to-hand combat, and Kavya racing to stop an assassination attempt on the PM.
Both threads come to a head with raw emotion and edge-of-the-seat tension. Kavya saves the PM, while Kabir and Raghu trade heavy blows, torn between their brotherhood and betrayal. The dialogues between the two men cut deep, underlining years of pain and unresolved guilt.
In the aftermath, RAW brands Kabir responsible for the PM attack, while Vikram (Raghu) is falsely celebrated as a martyr. The audience is led to believe Raghu has died — but in a last-minute twist, it’s revealed that he survived. Together, Kabir and Raghu secretly wipe out Kali’s core operatives, but Kabir chooses not to reveal Raghu’s survival to RAW.
It’s a masterstroke that leaves fans with goosebumps and a hundred questions.
War 2 Post-Credit Scene – Bobby Deol Introduces Alpha

War 2 closes on a bittersweet note. Kabir finally embraces his love for Kavya, ready to start a new chapter in life. But his “happy ending” feels fragile. With Raghu alive, the threat of betrayal lingers. Will he stay in the shadows or make a grand villainous return in War 3? In the end, Bobby Deol was shown putting a tattoo mark on the arm of a girl, introducing her to Alpha. The upcoming film ‘Alpha’ in the YRF Spy Universe is scheduled to release this Christmas 2025, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari.
War 2 not only delivers a thrilling ending but also sets the perfect stage for Alpha, led by Alia Bhatt, and the next big chapter in the YRF Spy Universe.
Final Thoughts
War 2 is more than just an action spectacle — it’s a story of friendship, betrayal, and redemption. Yes, it has been criticized for its story and VFX. However, the ending ensures that fans leave the theatres with adrenaline pumping, hearts heavy, and minds racing about what comes next. And if the makers greenlight War 3, we already know the battlefield will be bigger, deadlier, and far more personal.
