An Action Hero Review: Ayushmann Khurrana And Jaideep Ahlawat Shines In An Action Packed Chase

Many movies are released today on OTT and in theatres. We have already covered the reviews of Kartik Aaryan’s Freddy, released in Hotstar, and Madhur Bhandarkar’s India Lockdown in ZEE5. Another film, An Action Hero released today, but it is in theatres. T-Series and Colour Yellow Productions produced the film, which was directed by Anirudh Iyer. The film portrays Ayushmann Khurrana and Jaideep Ahlawat in prominent roles. Anirudh Iyer’s film dives into celebrity culture and the dark side of popularity. The film also serves as a primary theme of how celebrities become vulnerable to public shaming and media scrutiny.

The plot of the film is based on the character of Maanav (Ayushmann Khurrana), who is a star. He is at the peak of his career when he becomes embroiled in a controversy related to an accident while filming his film in Haryana.

Manav is now on the run from the innards of North India, and he makes a rush to London, where he gets into all sorts of difficulties. However, while there, Maanav finds himself in an even more difficult situation when he notices the lines becoming blurred. Everything changes from him being a “reel life” action hero to a “real life” one. The plot moves forward with his character being in hiding, avoiding the media and others.

An Action Hero Review

It’s the kind of film where you’re not must not examine illogical situations. You are only supposed to sit back and enjoy the experience. A few situations in the film threaten to drag things up. Furthermore, the pacing may appear to be a little faster than necessary. An Action Hero has such clever scenes, particularly when it comes to humor and well-known action tropes.

Moreover, the dialogue exchange between Ayushmann Khurrana’s Maanav and Jaideep Ahlawat’s Bhoora in many sequences is brilliant. Another area in which the movie excels is action, which neither wows nor disappoints. We especially appreciate Iyer’s choice of repeated media coverage.

It was also an indication that everything gets juicy when it comes to an entertainment icon. Additionally, in an attempt to be unusual and unique, the film becomes overly indulgent, and many situations make you laugh for the wrong reasons. Moving on, Ayushmann’s acting is engaging and has a strong screen presence. Ayushmann Khurrana is consciously the champion of unusual ideas. He’s tried everything from erectile dysfunction to same-sex love, but An Action Hero could be his most strange decision yet. Also, Jaideep’s performance is perfect with whatever screen time he has. Jitender Hooda, an undiscovered gem, deserves special recognition. He probably receives more laughs per minute of performance than any other performer in recent memory. Anirudh Iyer’s debut effort turns out to be a celebration of Hindi cinema.

Final Verdict

An Action Hero is a well-written action thriller in which the director strikes the proper tone for the genre. This weekend, it’s definitely worth watching. It picks up considerably in the second half, making the film enjoyable to watch. The film’s first half, with its confused handling, is a letdown, but director Anirudh Iyer makes a promising debut. After all, one of the film’s biggest highlights is Akshay Kumar’s 5-minute cameo. We rate it 3.5 out of 5 stars.
