Many movies are lined up for OTT release in December and even in theatres. Believe me, December started with a bang with a couple of OTT releases, Freddy on Hotstar and India Lockdown on ZEE5. Kartik Aaryan and Alaya F starrer Freddy is a terrific psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Do not worry; you can read it; there is no spoiler.
The story revolves around an introverted and awkward Dentist, Freddy Ginwala (Kartik Aaryan). A 28-year-old bachelor is searching for his soulmate. However, even after 5 years on a matrimonial website, he had no luck. He even faces humiliation via prank calls. He only has a friend Hardy, a turtle. One day, at an event, he sees a married woman Kainaaz Irani (Alaya F), and falls for her. Her husband (Sajjad Delafrooz) is a violent and possessive man. Kainaaz is stuck in an abusive marriage. The next day Kainaaz visits Freddy’s dental clinic for tooth extraction.
Soon the two get to come closer and fall for each other. Will they get rid of Kainaaz’s husband and live happily ever after? Or is there any other twist waiting for them? Watch out for the movie to find out.
The 2022 belongs to Kartik Aaryan. First, it was Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and now Freddy. Kartik Aaryan is no more the Pyaar Ka Punchnama wala lover boy. He is literally grown up, and my God, what a turnaround and a terrific performance from him. If you think his best performance was in Dhamaka, then watch Freddy, his best to date. He has set the bar higher in this film Freddy.
Kartik Aaryan brings out the emotions that will make you fall for his act again. He is in a never-seen-before avatar in the film. His transformation deserves a standing ovation. Kartik gained 14 kgs for this role and even learned the skills of a dentist. He is simply sensational in this character. Kartik’s expressions, dialogue delivery, and on-screen persona are outstanding.
Alaya F has also delivered an amazing performance as Kainaaz Irani. She looked extremely confident in the film. Freddy cannot be without Hardy, a turtle. Yes, the scenes between him and Kartik Aaryan are very interesting. Director Shashanka Ghosh has brought an edge-of-the-seat spine-chilling thriller that will scare you and even terrifies you. Parveez Sheikh’s story keeps you hooked and gives the Parsi flavor to the best. The first half builds up for what is coming next to be the chilling second half. There are only two songs in the film, and the one Kaala Jaadu comes at the end. The interval part and the climax will surprise you to the core. A 2 hours-4 minute film does not look stretched and keeps you engaged.
If you are a fan of thrillers like Drishyam and Andhadhun, you will surely enjoy this Kartik Aaryan film. Freddy is a spine-chilling thriller that ticks most of the boxes to be watched. Kartik Aaryan and Alaya F’s performance, Shashanka Ghosh’s direction, and the terrific story makes it a must-watch this weekend. Grab your popcorn, sit with your loved one and enjoy Freddy. We give Freddy 4 stars out of 5.
