What happens when a die-hard rationalist suddenly finds herself staring into the face of the unexplained? That’s exactly the question Nikita Roy throws at you — and trust me, it does not hold back! Directed by Kussh S. Sinha, this supernatural thriller ropes in solid performances from Sonakshi Sinha and Paresh Rawal to deliver a story that’s tense, unsettling, and makes you question what you really believe in.

If you’ve been tired of the same old horror tropes, here’s a film that blends the paranormal with a sharp social message — and does it without turning into a preachy lecture.

Nikita Roy Story

So what’s Nikita Roy all about? The film takes us straight to London, where siblings Sanal Roy (played by a brooding Arjun Rampal) and Nikita Roy (Sonakshi Sinha) live in a world that prides itself on logic and proof — no superstition allowed. Sanal is a modern-day myth-buster, and his latest target is Amardev (Paresh Rawal), a spiritual guru who’s got half the city eating out of his hand.

But when Sanal suddenly dies — accident, suicide, or something darker? — Nikita refuses to buy the easy answers. She knows her brother was onto something big, and she’s not going to let his death be brushed under the carpet.

With the help of their friend Jolly (Suhail Nayyar) — who, by the way, has a bit of an unspoken thing for Nikita — she starts pulling at the threads her brother left behind. Their hunt leads them to Freya, Sanal’s undercover inside Amardev’s camp. But just when they think they’re about to find answers, Freya does the unthinkable: she takes her own life right in front of them.

From there, things get weirder. Strange sounds. Eerie recordings. Shadows that don’t belong. And right at the center of it all — the ever-calm Amardev, who seems to know exactly how to twist Nikita’s mind.

The trailer shows glimpses of this tense cat-and-mouse chase — a sister’s fight for justice, a guru with secrets darker than his followers could ever guess, and a string of events that make you wonder: is this all just mind games, or is something else playing along?

Nikita Roy Review

Here’s where Nikita Roy really stands out. Unlike the usual horror thrillers stuffed with jump scares and tacky ghosts, this one trusts its story — and its audience. The screenplay, adapted from Pavan Kirpalani’s original idea, stays tight and smart. There are no forced songs, random comic sidekicks, or draggy bits. Just a tense atmosphere that keeps you guessing: is it all psychological, or is there a real demon in the room?

Director Kussh S. Sinha, making his debut, deserves a shoutout for keeping things grounded. He doesn’t cheap out with fake scares — instead, he builds dread piece by piece, using good old storytelling and solid performances. The movie feels more Western in its vibe than typical Bollywood horror, and honestly, that’s refreshing.

Yes, there is a hiccup, it’s that the climax feels a bit too quick — you might wish for a few extra minutes to soak in what’s happening. But then again, a thriller that doesn’t drag is a rare gift these days!

Nikita Roy Performance

One thing’s for sure — Nikita Roy wouldn’t be half as gripping without its cast. Sonakshi Sinha owns every scene as Nikita. She’s not playing some scream queen — she’s a sharp, no-nonsense rationalist who’s also grieving her brother’s loss. There’s anger, fear, and stubbornness, and Sonakshi balances it all without going overboard.

Paresh Rawal as Amardev is the perfect foil. That smile he flashes? It’s the stuff nightmares are made of. He doesn’t shout or snarl — he manipulates with chilling calmness. This isn’t Paresh Rawal, the comic genius — this is Paresh Rawal, the master of subtle menace. And it works brilliantly.

Arjun Rampal, though he’s gone too soon (no spoilers, but you know!), leaves a mark. Suhail Nayyar as Jolly brings a touch of warmth and awkward heartbreak. And Kalliroi Tziafeta, who plays Freya, delivers one of those short-but-wow performances that sticks with you.

Final Verdict

All said and done, Nikita Roy is a tight, tense ride that respects your brain and doesn’t insult you with cheap thrills. It’s easily one of the more interesting Hindi thrillers we’ve seen lately — and stands tall among the recent crop of heroine-led UK-set stories.

If you love thrillers that blend real-world debates with a pinch of the paranormal — without dumbing it down — go grab a ticket for Nikita Roy. Watch it for Sonakshi’s steel, Paresh Rawal’s wicked calm, and a story that’ll leave you asking: do you know what you believe in?
